Good Neighbors Mongolia

Good Neighbors Mongolia was established in 2006 and has been implementing Community Development Projects (CDPs) in the fields of Child Rights and Protection, Advocacy, Education, Health, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Partnership and Network, Income Generation, Environment, and Emergency Response. Community Development Projects, along with branch offices, are located in 6 districts of Ulaanbaatar City and in Darkhan-Uul and Orkhon Provinces.

With the support of local citizens, volunteers, government, and both non-governmental and international organizations, we directly reach over 13,000 children and their families in Mongolia and contribute to community development.

Timeline

2006

  • Good Neighbors Mongolia was established, and the first country director was appointed.

2007

  • Good Neighbors Kindergarten was established in the 16th district of Chingeltei.
  • Chingeltei CDP was established.

2010

  • "Good Sharing" social enterprise was established as part of the Income Generation Program.

2011

  • Nalaikh CDP & Sharkhad CDP & Songinokhairkhan CDP were established.

2012

  • Takhilt CDP was established.
  • Nalaikh CDP's wood products production cooperative was established.

2013

  • An international conference of child rights and protection was held.
  • The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United Nations Resident Representative Office in Mongolia.

2014

  • A cooperation agreement was signed with the Zavkhan Provincial Governor's Office, and Good Sharing opened its second branch and a pellet fuel factory.
  • Yarmag CDP was established.
  • Established Community Development Committees (CDCs) to oversee CDP activities.

2015

  • Kindergarten No.112 was expanded.
  • The Government Implementing Agency signed a cooperation agreement with the National Agency for Child Welfare to enforce the “Childcare Services” Law.
  • The Ministry of Human Development and Social Protection, along with the Government Implementing Agency and the National Agency for Child Welfare, jointly organized the "National Training Course for Childcare Service Trainers."

2016

  • Good Neighbors submitted an independent third-party report on child rights and protection to the United Nations (UN).
  • Joined the National Council of Prime Minister.
  • Conducted a national survey on knowledge, attitudes, and implementation of child rights and protection.

2017

  • A volunteer center was launched to engage and empower volunteers within the organization.
  • "Botgokhon" mobile library project was implemented.
  • "Itgeliin Khelkhee" reproductive health education project was implemented.
  • Established consumer cooperatives with local citizen participation.
  • The Government Implementing Agency, with the National Agency for Children, prepared Asia's first National Inspectorate for Children.

2018

  • Mangirt CDP was established in Darkhan-Uul Province.
  • Counseling Center for Child and Family was established.
  • "Letters for President" campaign was implemented as part of the Advocacy Program.
  • IT classrooms were equipped in No.9 and No.62 Secondary School in Songinokhairkhan district.
  • In collaboration with the Ministry of Family and Child Welfare, a psychological room was created to support children during divorce proceedings.

2019

  • Pediatric wards in the General Hospital of Khan-Uul District were expanded.
  • In collaboration with the Mongolian Puppet Theater, the oral health education project "The Adventure of My Pretty Teeth" was implemented.

2020

  • Natural Science Lab was established at School No. 71 in Sukhbaatar District.
  • The "Capacity Building for Coping with COVID-19" project was implemented with funding from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)
  • The "Gerelt-1" project, supporting adolescent psychological health, was implemented with funding from Oyu Tolgoi LLC.
  • Local community-based business groups began exporting cashmere products under an order from the Korean brand Merry Coop.
  • The "Micro-loan" program was launched in partnership with the Bayan Mongol Development Cooperative to support business groups and household entrepreneurs.

2021

  • "Mitigating the Impact of COVID-19 through Community-Led Interventions" project was implemented (Finished in 2023).
  • The "Gerelt-2" project, supporting adolescent psychological health, was implemented with funding from Oyu Tolgoi LLC.
  • As part of the Income Generation Program, a coffee chain café was established in collaboration with the Korean Sok Bun Coffee Company and local citizen participation.

2022

  • The "Global Children and Youth Network" project was implemented in Schools No. 139, 60, 41, and 34 in Khan-Uul district; No. 69 in Bayanzurkh district; No. 160 in Nalaikh district; and the Od Complex in Darkhan-Uul province.
  • The “Gerelt-3” project, supporting adolescent psychological health, was implemented with funding from Oyu Tolgoi LLC.

2023

  • Orkhon CDP was established in Orkhon Province.
  • The "Good Mind and Soul" project to support the psychological health of adolescents was implemented in Darkhan-Uul Province.
  • "Interactive Content on Children's Rights" project was implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
  • The "Erkhem Nandin" project, aimed at supporting adolescent reproductive health, was launched with funding from Barloworld LLC.
  • The "Little Tooth Heroes" dental treatment donation campaign was implemented.
  • The "Warm Feet" winter shoe and clothing donation campaign was launched with the initiative and support of the German Sparkasse Bank Foundation
  • The "Gerelt-4" project, supporting adolescent psychological health, was implemented with funding from Oyu Tolgoi LLC.

2024

  • Emergency aids for Dzud (snow disaster) were delivered to herders in Sukhbaatar province.
  • "Early Childhood Rights and Protection" project was implemented in Orkhon Province.
  • The "Erkhem Nandin-2" project, aimed at supporting adolescent reproductive health, was launched with funding from Barloworld LLC.
  • The "Gerelt-5" project, supporting adolescent psychological health, was implemented with funding from Oyu Tolgoi LLC.
  • We worked with the Capital Support Center for Small and Medium Enterprises to help local micro-entrepreneurs join national trade fairs and organize their own exhibitions.
